Dad's Homemade Baked Beans

Total Time: 13 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 hrs Cook Time: 3 hrs 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 lb pea beans
  • 1 large onion
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 lb salt lamb
  • salt and pepper

Recipe

  • 1 put your beans in a baking dish to soak overnight with the water and the onion.
  • 2 the next day boil your beans in the soaking water until the crack when pushed between two spoons.
  • 3 preheat your oven to 350 degrees celsius.
  • 4 mix together the mustard, ketchup, molasses and brown sugar and add to the boiling water. you can add your salt and pepper here to.
  • 5 cut your salt lamb, or any other lamb product you would like to use and add this to the mixture as well.
  • 6 put in oven and check after an hour and a half for moisture levels. if you feel it needs more water add about 1/4 cup at a time.
  • 7 remove from oven after another hour and a half cooking time and check the constancy, it should be juicy but not watery.
