Ellie Krieger's Baked Beans With Ham

Ingredients

- 2 teaspoons canola oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 12 ounces smoked virginia ham, cut into 1/4 inch cubes
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 (15 ounce) cans navy beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsulfered molasses
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Recipe
- 1 heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- 2 add onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minute.
- 3 add the ham and garlic and cook for an additional 3 minute.
- 4 stir in the beans, crushed tomatoes, water, molasses, mustard, vinegar, and pepper.
- 5 bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
- 6 cover and cook until about half of the liquid is absorbed, 15 minute.
