Ellie Krieger's Baked Beans With Ham

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 teaspoons canola oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 12 ounces smoked virginia ham, cut into 1/4 inch cubes
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans navy beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsulfered molasses
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Recipe

  • 1 heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • 2 add onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minute.
  • 3 add the ham and garlic and cook for an additional 3 minute.
  • 4 stir in the beans, crushed tomatoes, water, molasses, mustard, vinegar, and pepper.
  • 5 bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
  • 6 cover and cook until about half of the liquid is absorbed, 15 minute.
