Boston Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 cups small beans (navy beans)
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup salt lamb, cubes
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Recipe

  • 1 soak beans overnight. place beans in kettle with 6 cups water. add salt.
  • 2 bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer until tender, about 2 hours.
  • 3 mix beans and all cooking water in baking dish with salt lamb, brown sugar,.
  • 4 molasses, and dry mustard.
  • 5 cover and bake beans at 225 degrees f. for 6 to 8 hours or more. check often to see if more water is needed.
