Garbanzo Beans (chole)

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 (16 ounce) can garbanzo beans
  • 1 tablespoon ghee or 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion, roughly diced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup tomato, diced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • coriander leaves
  • lemon slice

Recipe

  • 1 sauté onions, add garlic and ginger in ghee.
  • 2 fry for about 5 minutes.
  • 3 add tomatoes, and cumin, coriander, turmeric and chili powders, and salt to taste.
  • 4 cook for another 5 minutes.
  • 5 add garbanzo beans, boil for a few minutes.
  • 6 add garam masala, let mixture simmer.
  • 7 remove from stove.
  • 8 serve garnished with coriander leaves and lemon slices.
