Hillbilly Chili

Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion (diced)
- 1 green bell pepper (diced)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 4 (16 ounce) cans of busch's chili beans
- 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (46 ounce) can tomato juice
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 5 dashes tabasco sauce (more or less depending on how spicy you like it)
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
Recipe
- 1 cook ground beef until brown in a skillet.
- 2 while beef is cooking sweat the onion, garlic, and green bell pepper in the pot you plan to make the chili inches.
- 3 drain ground beef.
- 4 add beef into the pan with the garlic, onion, and green bell pepper.
- 5 stir until combined.
- 6 season the mixture with the salt and pepper.
- 7 cook mixture for 2 minutes.
- 8 add the tomato sauce, chili beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato juice into the pot.
- 9 stir until combined.
- 10 add the bay leaf, chili powder, tabasco, paprika, and worcestershire sauce.
- 11 stir until combined.
- 12 simmer for one hour, stirring the chili every 15 minutes.
- 13 at the end of the hour taste the chili, add more salt and pepper to taste.
- 14 serve with cheese and sour cream.
