Hillbilly Chili

Ingredients

  • Servings: 7
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 4 (16 ounce) cans of busch's chili beans
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (46 ounce) can tomato juice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 5 dashes tabasco sauce (more or less depending on how spicy you like it)
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

Recipe

  • 1 cook ground beef until brown in a skillet.
  • 2 while beef is cooking sweat the onion, garlic, and green bell pepper in the pot you plan to make the chili inches.
  • 3 drain ground beef.
  • 4 add beef into the pan with the garlic, onion, and green bell pepper.
  • 5 stir until combined.
  • 6 season the mixture with the salt and pepper.
  • 7 cook mixture for 2 minutes.
  • 8 add the tomato sauce, chili beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato juice into the pot.
  • 9 stir until combined.
  • 10 add the bay leaf, chili powder, tabasco, paprika, and worcestershire sauce.
  • 11 stir until combined.
  • 12 simmer for one hour, stirring the chili every 15 minutes.
  • 13 at the end of the hour taste the chili, add more salt and pepper to taste.
  • 14 serve with cheese and sour cream.
