Mama Mull's Chili

Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (8 ounce) can water
- 1 (16 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
- 1 envelope lipton onion soup mix
- 1/4 cup red wine or 1/4 cup beer
- 1 can red kidney beans
- salt and pepper
- tabasco sauce
Recipe
- 1 in a large pot, brown the ground beef; pour off excess fat.
- 2 add onions and garlic; cook for several minutes over medium heat.
- 3 add chili powder and onion soup mix; stir thoroughly.
- 4 add water; cook and stir until the soup mix dissolves.
- 5 add tomato sauce and wine/beer; bring to boiling point and reduce heat to a simmer.
- 6 cook 1 hour.
- 7 continue cooking over low heat for another 1 to 2 hours; stirring occasionally, adding water if necessary.
- 8 about 20 minutes prior to serving, check for seasonings- salt, pepper, and tabasco.
- 9 add beans; simmer until beans are heated through.
