sue's beans

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound sliced bacon, diced
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (16 ounce) can baked beans with lamb, drained
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (15.5 ounce) can great northern beans, drained
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses

    Ready Time: 2 hrs 30 mins

  • preheat the oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c).
  • heat a dutch oven over medium heat. use a large pot or saucepan if you do not have a dutch oven. add the beef, bacon and onion. cook and stir until beef is evenly browned and crumbled. drain off grease.
  • stir in the baked beans, kidney beans and great northern beans. combine the ketchup, brown sugar, salt, mustard powder, vinegar and molasses; stir into the beans. if you are not using a dutch oven, transfer to a casserole dish.
  • bake for 1 1/2 hours in the preheated oven.
