Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
- 1 tablespoon anisette
- 1 cinnamon stick, broken in half
- 4 whole cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon packed finely grated lemon peel
- 1/4 teaspoon packed finely grated orange peel
- 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
Recipe
- 1 combine wine, sugar, raisins, almonds, anisette, cinnamon stick, cloves, lemon peel, and orange peel in heavy large saucepan.
- 2 scrape in seeds from vanilla bean and then add bean.
- 3 bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes to blend flavors.
- 4 (can be made 1 day ahead. cool, cover, and chill. bring to simmer before serving.).
